According to a survey conducted by Cyber Security Hub, 28 percent of cyber security professionals in the Asia-Pacific region believe that DDoS attacks will be the most impactful threat vector of 2023. Distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks are a type of cyber attack used to overwhelm a site’s infrastructure with a large amount of internet traffic, disrupting access and potentially causing monetary harm.
Other threat vectors noted by cyber security professionals in the region include malicious code commits and key employee/role targeting. This was highlighted in a record DDoS attack that occurred within the Asia-Pacific region in February 2023, which was successfully mitigated by cyber security company Akami, who noted that the attack was "intense and short-lived". As a result, no collateral damage was caused by the attack.
